Si no sales a combatir, tu fuerza estará siempre llena.
Hello marketers today and to discuss strategies that will address the points of one of the best books ever written by Sun Tzu.
Sun Tzu was a great strategist and philosopher of ancient China, Sun Wu was general of the army of King Helu of Wu.
In this article I'll explain what I understood from this ancient book, so let's start.
1. Evaluation
The war in the marketing and the state is very important, we can dominate a market, whether we lose or we win and it is vital to know to handle it.
War is an act which must reflect and meditate, in short we must assess our position in a given situation, the war as mentioned in the book is "The Art of Deception", so when you can attack better pretend not to, if your troops move pretend you're still, when you're near the enemy make him believe that you are away and on the other hand, when you're away make him believe that you are very close to him.
On the other hand when you see that the enemy is a mess, attack him, if he is strong to be avoided and if you know that you won the temperament must do irritate, remember the phrase "loser gets angry" this refers in this point, if you lose you will lose control if you manage to miss the enemy you will be lucky Remember Zidane in the World giving a header? Well, something told him to lose his head and expelled from the field.
2. Start action
The book says: "I have heard of military operations that have been awkward and sudden, but I have never seen any expert in the art of war that kept the campaign for long."
Same with marketing and successful campaigns, there is a campaign that has lasted all year non-stop, there are many ways and most erring when executing actions.
When you've located a weakness you have to be fast, you must be so fast break things (Mark Zuckerberg) Your enemy must not blink, you must take hands its provisions and save for you, it may sound unfortunate but true, in marketing the first to discover insights is the more you sell, but if you use the enemy to defeat the enemy, will be powerful everywhere.
A tip really cool book reads: most important thing in a military operation is victory, not persistence. The latter is not beneficial. A
army is like fire: if you turn it off, it will consume itself.
3. The victory and defeat
Never attack in anger and haste. It is advisable to take time in the planning and coordination of the plan.
A true master of martial arts beats other enemy forces without battle, conquers other cities without asediarlas and destroy other armies without spending much time.
The complete victory occurs when the army does not fight, the city is not besieged, not destruction continues for a long time, and in each case the enemy is overcome by the use of the strategy.
If you know others and you know yourself, in a hundred battles you will run danger; if you do not know others but know yourself, you lose a battle and win another; if you do not know or others you know yourself, you will be in danger in every battle.
4. Provision in the media
Sun Tzu tells us "Invincibility is in oneself, vulnerability in the adversary."
This strategy teaches us that a good defense is a good offense, but you also know that when resources are scarce and must defend are plentiful when you attack.
This can be seen in marketing and strategies within the outlets and pop material they use. Have you noticed that when companies are in periods of low product advertising is not so aggressive? Well, this is why you should stay hidden, invisible to the world, so that when the situation changes the move you make quick and full of courage to show and bring down the enemy.
All praise a victory, but what is really worthy of applause is the ability to achieve victory even if there is a no way to achieve a successful strategy wins first and then fight, while the defeated fight to exhaustion and tries to take the victory after once being tired Remember the Samsung vs Apple fight? Apple seemed to lose, but heard quiet while Samsung tired and then attacked with all the weapons.
5. Finality
When you want to show the world, the chief competition or you're strong, you're ordered or you're brave, you must be clear about three things:
The disorder comes from order, cowardice arises from courage and weak force.
Believe it or not adversaries pretending to have his secret, to be sure to do the opposite of what you are, you must first have well-organized order, courage and strength.
This recently happened with UBER famous song, the famous app let the enemy believe he was in a vulnerable and crucial moment, competition (the taxis of the CDMX) tried to extinguish the flame of UBER at a time of greatness for them, feeling that they were protected by the city government, the result was free trips to counteract this movement, they created this vulnerability but also became strong, planned the attack and executed the plan perfectly.
In the words of Sun Tzu "It move enemies with the prospect of victory, to fall into the trap."
6. On the fullness and emptiness
This is one of the strategies that I like, citing the book "If you do that opponents come to you to fight, his strength is always empty. If you do not go to fight, your strength will always be full. This is the art of others empty and fill yourself. "
It's not about hiding, the secret is to be a master of disguise and be subtle when you're mysterious and silent no enemy will know where to find you.
The book tells us to be silent like the wind, quick as lightning and thus we will be invincible. Sometimes it is best for you keep you data, thus to surprise, always have weapons to attract attention and thus get ahead and know your opponent and how they attack and defend.
In marketing strategies leads to the same principle, the campaign is planned behind closed doors and is planned for the right time, often not give details and is a big surprise for competition in the same season if not all have weapons develas to surprise and draw your consumer ℅ and also if you allow competition attack you know what move to make next.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfmV8frupvE

3.- iPhone vs Samsung Galaxy Note
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUnlnopG_Xs

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiLUe2mIO1I
Advertising is for decades the field of trademarks, what are the best matchups we've seen recently?
In his quest to become the preferred company public, dozens of occasions we have witnessed strong historical and unreal clashes between brands.
The most interesting is that most of these battles have been fought in a field that lends itself as the place to truly express what they think a signature of each of its rivals: the world of advertising.
It is increasingly common for a brand stands in their commercial or promotional who is better than another, highlighting their strengths and benefits over any of its competitors.
This practice is called comparative advertising and consists mainly of campaigns that highlight the virtues of a brand and wrecking others', relying for it on creativity.
This is war!
Here are four clashes between brands in recent years and undoubtedly fall within the so-called comparative advertising.
1. Mercedes Benz vs Jaguar
We started with the automotive world, site that was developed recently an incredible battle between two companies in the luxury sector did everything in his power to shatter.
It started with just shopping Mercedes Benz, in which the company sought to show the public the benefits of its active suspension system 'Magic Body Control'. The detail is that made by a group of hens: here I leave the video link.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfmV8frupvE
But what they never imagined is that the trade would be of a joke by one of his biggest rivals, Jaguar, virtually copied what was done by Mercedes and devoured her chickens.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Nt-dIiAoNY
Things did not end there, as the Germans decided not forgive Jaguar, subsequently releasing a picture in which one of their vehicles was dearrollar point to the symbol of his competitor.
2. Apple vs Microsoft
The war between these two technology giants seems to be an open front that can never be closed, since both documents have launched attacks without fear of response that could give his opponent.
The battle practically began in 1984 when Apple launched a commercial about the arrival of their first computer, literally 'broke' the monopoly that Microsoft had until that day.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zfqw8nhUwA
The firm apple has ever had mercy on his attacks, generating highly creative campaigns that highlight the slowness of company computers Bill Gates in a very creative way. This is one of the best examples.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5z0Ia5jDt4
Microsoft did not remain with folded arms, also generating business seeking to emphasize that, beyond what Apple says, their computers are taste of dozens of people.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrmF-mPLybw
3. Samsung Galaxy Note vs iPhone
Apple has gotten away from his battle against Microsoft, however, surely can not say the same about the fighting that has taken against another great innovation, Samsung.
Asian firm has scoffed at various times of the little progress that has been one of the star products of the firm apple, iPhone, pointing to comical way they are far from their products.
An example of this was the #NoteTheDifference campaign, which the company launched last year with the aim of making fun of the new Apple iPhone 6. Check out what they did.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUnlnopG_Xs
It was a global campaign that came immediately and that consisted not only of a commercial, but various promos that made fun of the attitudes of Apple fans.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YA_ocaqTlw
4. Pepsi vs Coca Cola
Another couple of companies that also has a long tradition of fighting are Pepsi and Coca Cola, the two monsters in the beverage industry who always try to make your opponent look bad.
An excellent example of this was the Pepsi commercial that launched in 2012, in which he stressed that everyone likes the taste, even those who are its competence, referring Coca Cola.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiLUe2mIO1I
This commercial ended up being a success for the company and tried to repeat the following year but without much success. Through a meme, Pepsi was first mocked Coca Cola daytime halloween, but now his opponent did not remain with folded hands.
What other battle between brands remember? How positive is from your perspective that this type of advertising campaigns generated? Do you think that are positive for creativity?
