Los «Oscar del lujo» premian a las firmas más selectas, como Hermès, Cartier, La Prairie o Rolls-Royce y destacan a los chinos como los primeros consumidores de lujo.

La World Luxury Association ha celebrado en Pekín los «Luxury Oscar Awards», algo así como los premios Oscar del lujo; un certamen donde se dan a conocer las 100 marcas de lujo más valiosas del mundo, de campos tan diversos como moda, aviación, yates, coches, joyería, relojes, licores, cosméticos, complejos turísticos e innovación. La asociación es una organización no lucrativa de investigación y gestión de marcas de lujo a nivel internacional.

Las diez firmas más destacadas del mundo de la moda son Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Ferragamo, Versace, Prada, Fendi, Giorgio Armani y Ermenegildo Zegna. En cosmética, los valores seguros son ahora mismo Chanel, Christian Dior, Guerlain, Givenchy, Helena Rubinstein, Sisley, La Prairie, La Mer, Lancôme y Biotherm.

En joyería, el top es el siguiente: Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Boucheron, Harry Winston, Chaumet, Kloybateri, Bvlgari, Montblanc, Tiffany&Co y Mikimoto. En relojería, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin y Piaget son las tres primeras.

El informe oficial de la World Luxury Association para 2012 muestra que China se ha convertido en el mayor consumidor mundial de productos de lujo. Luego de pasar por un proceso de adaptación a las ideas de su nuevo CEO, Tim Cook, la compañía que fuera fundada por Jobs y Wozniak consiguió finalmente estos últimos doce meses despegar y superar en el listado a Google, su ahora eterno rival.
en términos generales el Top 100 de este 2015 logró registrar un crecimiento de hasta un 14% en comparación con 2014, sumando todas las marcas integrantes en conjunto más de 3.3 trillones de dólares.

Cabe señalar que el ranking de Millward Brown, que este 2015 cumple 10 años de vida, ubicó que de 2006 a la fecha el valor en conjunto de las marcas del mundo se elevó un 137%, resaltando el caso de China, país que en aquel año sólo tenía una marca presente en la evaluación y que hoy tiene 14.
