El Consejo de Administración de Walmart de México y Centroamérica anunció el nombramiento de Guilherme Loureiro como nuevo presidente Ejecutivo y director general (CEO) de Walmart de México y Centroamérica a partir del 1 de febrero de 2016.
Enrique Ostalé continuará ocupando el cargo de presidente del Consejo de Administración de Walmex y Presidente y Director General de Walmart Latinoamérica, en cuya capacidad Guilherme le reportará.
“El Consejo de Administración de Walmex agradece las funciones que Enrique Ostalé llevó a cabo durante 2015 como Presidente Ejecutivo y Director General de Walmex”, se lee en el comunicado enviado a la Bolsa Mexicana de Valores.
El nuevo CEO de Walmart de México fue presidente y director general del minorista en Brasil, donde ingresó en 2012. Tuvo puestos directivos en una compañía multinacional de consumo en Brasil, Estados Unidos y Europa en las áreas de finanzas, fusiones y adquisiciones y estrategia corporativa.
Loureiro cuenta con una licenciatura, maestría y doctorado en administración de negocios de la Fundación Getulio Vargas en Sao Paulo, Brasil y también asistió al curso de The General Manager Program de la Escuela de Negocios de Harvard.
Walmart de México dijo el jueves que sus ventas comparables en el país subieron un 9.1% interanual en diciembre, mucho más de lo esperado, y con lo que acumuló un aumento del 6.4% en todo 2015.
El índice se compara favorablemente con la caída del 0.4% del mismo mes del año previo, y sigue la tendencia mostrada en noviembre pasado de un aumento del 6.2% interanual.
“El monto promedio de compra registró un aumento de 8.2% y el número de transacciones en nuestras tiendas durante el mes de diciembre registró un aumento a unidades iguales de 0.9 por ciento”, dijo la minorista en un comunicado.

Enrique Ostalé continue in his role as President of the Board of Walmex and President and CEO of Walmart Latin America, in which capacity he will report Guilherme.
"The Board appreciates the Walmex Enrique Ostalé functions carried out during 2015 as Executive Chairman and CEO of Walmex," reads the statement sent to the Mexican Stock Exchange.
The new CEO of Walmart de Mexico was president and CEO of the retailer in Brazil, which he joined in 2012. He had management positions in a multinational consumer company in Brazil, the United States and Europe in the areas of finance, mergers and acquisitions and corporate strategy .
Loureiro has a bachelor's, master's and doctorate in business administration from the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Sao Paulo, Brazil and also attended the course of The General Manager Program at Harvard Business School.
Walmart de Mexico said Thursday that same-store sales in the country rose 9.1% yoy in December, much more than expected, and thus accumulated an increase of 6.4% throughout 2015.
The index compares favorably with the fall of 0.4% in the same month last year, and follows the trend last November an increase of 6.2% yoy.
"The average ticket registered an increase of 8.2% and the number of transactions in our stores during the month of December saw an increase in equal units of 0.9 percent," the retailer said in a statement.
