Ernesto Bertarelli was born in Italy but has made Switzerland his headquarters, where he works and makes life. And in the country of millionaires, no one has more money than him. This is confirmed by Forbes magazine. We tell how he managed his fortune this successful businessman who divides his time between yachts and biotechnology.

Ernesto Bertarelli was born in Rome on September 22, 1965. His parents were Fabio and Maria Iris Bertarelli.

On a vacation in Italy Bertarelli he met Kristy Roper, who had been Miss UK and worked as a songwriter. They have three children and currently live in Gstaad, Switzerland. Kristy is considered the richest woman in Britain after marrying Bertarelli.

When Ernesto's father died in 1998, he bequeathed all the power of the company to Ernesto and his sister, Dona, who changed the course of a pharmaceutical company to a biotechnology company. That tripled the revenue of the company in 2006.

"2005 was a year of growth and expansion. The changes we made improved income, while our business strategy more effectively yielded results "and Ernesto recalled the time.
In addition to the discovery of female fertility hormones, the company also made significant progress in the management of multiple sclerosis and also in growth hormone deficiency.

They remain concerned about marine conservation and in many projects work hand in hand with the British government.
Because of concern about marine life, Bertarelli was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Marine Science in 2013 from the University of Plymouth. Forbes estimated him a fortune of $ 8.6 billion (€ 7.7 MM), the richest man in Switzerland. "Obviously I can not be quiet," he replies when asked if Ernesto will be dedicated only to enjoy his fortune. He has no plans to stop.

Sequoia Capital invested $ 7 million (€ 6.2 million) and by 2013 the app had 200 million users, and only had 50 employees. Sequoia intone contributed an additional $ 50 million (€ 44.8 million) and raised the value of the company up to $ 1.5 billion (€ 1.3 million).
In February 2014 WhatsApp Koum decided to sell Facebook for the sum of $ 22 billion (€ 19.7 MM) and remained on the board of the firm. It was one of the most important sales in the world of technology and elevated to the status of billionaire Jan.

Jan donated $ 1 million (€ 897.183) to the FreeBSD Foundation in November 2014 and that same year made an incredible donation for $ 556 million (€ 498 million) to the foundation of Silicon Valley. Today Forbes estimated her fortune to Koum of $ 9.1 billion (€ 8.1 million). Still single.
WhatsApp continues to grow. WhatsApp in February 2016 achieved the feat of 1,000 million users. Facebook recently announced that the courier would become free.

Money often change people and their tastes. The new millionaires are recognized for driving great cars, dazzling live in mansions, travel in private jets and buy beautiful yachts. It seems an unspoken rule that follow all the mega rich. All but Ingvar Kamprad, founder of IKEA and probably the most austere among the world's millionaires men.

Kamprad owns the largest furniture company worldwide. This Swedish businessman of 89 years has a huge fortune of $ 3.5 billion (€ 3.1 billion) according to Forbes, which places it at No. 14 among men with more money in their country.

However, it takes a very simple life, even more than the Spanish Amancio Ortega, owner of Zara, also famous for its austerity. Kamprad still drives the same Volvo for more than 20 years, usually stay in cheap hotels, travel in economy class and takes advantage of the offers. Even take public transportation when you do not want to drive. Therefore the world knows him as the billionaire cheapskate.
It is a lifestyle that contrasts with the success of IKEA, which has 373 stores in 47 countries and employs 155,000 workers worldwide. The brand designs, manufactures and sells beautiful furniture, appliances and home accessories at a low cost. The combination of excellent quality and low prices is the main success of IKEA, whose incomes are increasing every year. "Having money does not mean having to squander it," they say Kamprad, who is not interested in attracting attention or out in the press.

But his modesty did not prevent him reign as the richest man in the world for a year, when in 2010 Forbes placed him at the top of the ranking with a fortune of $ 23 billion (€ 20.6 million). A year later he fell to seat No. 162 after his lawyers presented documents proving that he created the foundation based in Liechtenstein and their family benefit from their funds.

Kamprad in June 2015 appeared as the eighth richest person in the world Billionaires Index Bloomberg, with an estimated $ 43.2 billion (€ 38,8MM) heritage. And now in 2016 when Forbes was set him a fortune of $ 3.5 billion and is number No. 497.

Trader from small

Ingvar Feodor Kamprad was born on March 30, 1926 in the small province of Smalandiya in PJÄTTERYD, southern Sweden. Kamprad's biographers say their merchant vein is hereditary. In 1987 his grandfather owned a company that kept much of the family. But at a time of crisis, when the company was near bankruptcy and grandfather he could not pay the mortgage, committed suicide. But who could save the company itself was his grandmother. She taught the little Kamprad the right way to take on the difficulties of life.
People working together to ensure that Kamprad is a bright, wise and never wrong man. In fact, Kamprad's business strategy is studied by entrepreneurs from around the world.

Kamprad developed his talent as a trader from very small. He buys pencils wholesale and then sold them to their peers. During his student days he tried several items. Selling fish and Christmas cards. IKEA's success is entirely empirical, since Kamprad never read books about business, much less attended college.

"Early on I started in business. My aunt helped me buy my first 100 matchboxes (or matches). I bought in Stockholm in a warehouse where was cheaper. Then I sold the first cases to double or triple the price you bought them, and some five times. I still remember the pleasant feeling to get my first win. At that time was no longer a child of five years, "Kamprad said in a statement that includes the portal Astrum People.

IKEA born

While his classmates were interested in football and hanging out with the girls, Kamprad was thinking is how to expand your business. And in 1943, when he was 17, his father gave him money as a reward for good grades in their studies, and the boy took the opportunity to create IKEA. The first two letters of the name comes from their initials (I.K.), and are completed by the first letters of Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd, the farm and village where he grew up.

At first the young Kamprad was selling different products, from matches to medium. But what sold were pens (feathers). In early 1940 were a novelty, even in Sweden. Then he ordered 500 pens from Paris, asking for a loan of 500 kronor in a bank district. According to Kamprad, that was the first and last loan he would ask in your life.

To attract potential customers to the presentation of the store, the wily Kamprad promised a cup of coffee and cake to all who attend. The big surprise was that simple strategy called thousand people. The idea of opening a fast food restaurant in each store looked like a great idea. Time passed and today each store IKEA has its own restaurant.

The idea of selling furniture

The businessman novel note a feature of life in Sweden: luxury furniture was not available to many people because of the high cost. So in 1948 Kamprad it comes up with the idea of participating in the sale of furniture, which eventually would become the main source of profit IKEA.

"I started in selling furniture as a fluke, in order to overcome my competitors, and is something that has determined my fate."

But Ingvar did not want to make any type of furniture. He was determined to create structures with style and fine upholstery.
In 1951, IKEA began distributing leaflets among its customers "IKEA News" were called.
Eventually become modern IKEA catalogs. His business clients heading to low and middle income so he ordered the construction of cheap furniture in local factories. Thus he was born his famous phrase:

"It's better to sell 600 chairs at a lower price, which seats 60 at a high price."

At the beginning of the 50s a small and old factory in Sweden, which allowed him to greatly increase the sale of furniture for their shops and sell accordingly bought cheaper. Increasingly often IKEA became the favorite of people and competition felt the blow. Then the Swedish Federation of Wood and furniture industries were so outraged by the prices of IKEA, which decided to boycott Kamprad to not sell the raw material.

This would have meant ruin for any businessman, but not for Kamprad. As a result of that blockade imposed on him, the employer had to make a very unusual move for the Swedish company at that time: he began to acquire the furniture components in Poland, at a cheaper price.

In 1953 the first IKEA furniture exhibition opened. It was in Älmhult, Sweden. Customers could touch and look at the furniture before buying. And five years later a new 6,700 m2 warehouse was opened. Certainly initially IKEA typical colors were red and white. Today IKEA is painted yellow and blue, as the national colors of Sweden.
Kamprad was already a powerful businessman whose methods were perceived by trade competition in their country with contempt and resentment.

In the early 60s, Kamprad went to America and saw how the system of Cash & Carry. He liked this form of trading where customers paid in cash and the goods themselves were brought home.

IKEA Kunges Kurva: In 1965 a much larger store, opened 31,000 m2. the system used in the US was implemented, but more creatively. First, the store was opened in a residential community. Second, to reduce transportation costs the company ordered ready to assemble furniture, where the boxes had a flattened shape and customers had to assemble their own furniture. Kamprad had noticed that people like to assemble their furniture themselves, especially if it was a simple installation with detailed instructions.

After another successful Kamprad implement system that would bring benefits for years: self-service store. Now furniture stores were kind of showroom, where not only sofas and cupboards, but also any artifacts of everyday life are exhibited: tablecloths, curtains, towels, candle holders, etc. Thus, visitors can see 10 rooms of children in a long line, then 25 dining or living rooms, and so on. After imagining how would the furniture inside your home, the customer can go for them in the store.

IKEA's success at home was a fact. So the next step was to try his luck outside the borders. In 1963 it opens its first store in Oslo, Norway capital. And some years later when Kamprad walked the streets of Zurich, he heard a couple remark casually: "What chair so beautiful," said the girl watching the case. And her husband replied, "Yes, but it is still too expensive for us. We buy it next year. " That was enough for 1973 IKEA opened its doors in Switzerland. After Australia, the Netherlands, France, United States. Even the super global chain that has become.

In 1986 Kamprad retired from the GMB and became an advisor to the parent company INGKA Holding B.V., which controls IKEA.
In 2000 IKEA noted how important it was the Internet for the growth of the company and the first customers had the opportunity to make their purchases online were in Sweden and Denmark. Since then, many IKEA stores around the world receive their orders online and through its App. Users enjoy a great shopping experience to be able to create from your computer or mobile device the room or room of your dreams, with models color they want, and make online order form.

Private life

Kamprad has been married twice. His first wife was Kerstin Wadling with whom he had a daughter, Annika Kihlbom. But it was his second wife, Margaretha Kamprad-Stennert who helped him fulfill his dream of IKEA. His wife died in 2011 at the age of 71 years because of an undisclosed illness. With her he had three children: Peter, Jonas and Mathias.
However, the life of this great entrepreneur is not without blemishes, like any person. In 1994 it was discovered that in his youth Kamprad was involved in pro-Nazi movement, motivated mainly by his grandmother who was considered "a great admirer of Hitler". Kamprad then describe that time as "the biggest mistake of my life" and even wrote a letter to his Jewish employees asking forgiveness.

He also acknowledged that during some stage suffered from alcoholism.
