After the desired end of UN sanctions against Iran, the West longs for the oil reserves of the Persian nation. Who knew that an Iranian woman, with only 31 years, but with broad knowledge of English and vast experience in the real world, would spearhead these negotiations expected.
In a restaurant in Tehran, Elham Hassanzadeh, a tall, leafy hair woman overflowing their hijab, dinner accompanied by the heads of two major engineering and construction Iranians: BM Hazrati, director of Arsa International Construction, and Mehrdad Motarjemi, director of Gamma.
Hassanzadeh, 31, grew up in Southern traditionalist Iran, earned her law degree at the Islamic Azad University, and thanks to a grant from Royal Dutch Shell he completed a master's degree at the University of Cambridge in the UK and then a doctorate in University of Dundee.
He wrote the most comprehensive book on the Iranian natural gas industry since the Islamic revolution of 1979, published last year by Oxford University Press.
And he returned to Iran to lead a consulting firm, Energy Pioneers, in front of Iran's advanced to lure back foreign investors following the lifting of economic sanctions.
The country hopes to raise 100 billion dollars in foreign financing to double its production of oil and gas in the next five years.
Hassanzadeh is building its business by capitalizing on a deep knowledge of the energy resources of Iran, close ties with government technocrats and industry leaders in Tehran and high-level contacts in the major oil companies, law firms and investment houses in the West.
Despite his youth, he cultivated in Europe an extensive network of industry contacts during his years at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. Without mentioning names, because some of those contacts US law could have skipped only by talking business with Iran, shares what he has learned: the strong Western participation in the oil sector of Iran will not take place for another two years or maybe more.
Potential partners do not trust the information they receive from Tehran, he explains, and the big banks and investment funds "still need a clear green light" from the Treasury Department of the United States before committing money in Iran.
"For them, Iran's stability is still in question," he says. "What if in two years (the reformist president Hassan) Rouhani is not reelected?".
Given this observation Motarjemi (whose company recently completed Gamma largest production of natural gas from Iran in the Persian Gulf, the South Pars Phase 12) replies: "We can always make a long list of what if ... What if Donald Trump is the next president of the United States? ".
In the fierce debate within the Iranian oil industry, Motarjemi is among those who believe that technology and international management experience are indispensable, against those who argue that the achievements during the four years of sanctions show that the country does not need help foreign.
Although Phase 12 was hailed as a triumph of Iranian self-sufficiency, it cost twice what it should because of the sanctions.
Although Phase 12 was hailed as a triumph of Iranian self-sufficiency, it cost twice what it should because of the sanctions.
"You can not imagine how difficult it was," says the executive enumerating countless obstacles. "I've seen how management works best when there is a European company working with us," he admits.
Iran is ready to rebuild its energy industry and West leads for months salivating at the prospect of the end of sanctions. In November, Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh tempted to over 300 foreign executives with the tender of 70 exploration and development projects with the promise of better conditions for foreign producers, under new, more advantageous than the previous contracts.
For Ganesh Betanabhatla, US private equity investor, the opportunity is huge, but the main problem is that information on the Iranian hydrocarbon deposits is vague and weak: "Nobody in the world of independent exploration and production has set foot there in 36 years. "
But Hassanzadeh has helped with the research, and its network has organized meetings between Betanabhatla and Iranian officials in New York and Europe.
"She intrigues people, especially in the West," says Jonathan Stern, her thesis advisor and founder of the research program on natural gas of the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies.
In terms of impact, not only is it a woman in a male-dominated industry, it is what she says. In its Iranian clients, officers desperate to capture foreign partners after the lifting of sanctions, Hassanzadeh tells them they are not ready. Iran needs technology, know-how and also good jobs, and such things do not occur in the environment of frequent "semi" relationships in other parts of the Middle East, explains.
For Western companies made joint ventures with Iranian partners on a more equal footing, Iran must first build an "infrastructure investment" of auditors, lawyers, independent consultants, and courts in which foreigners can trust, warns Hassanzadeh. That takes time and a social commitment to rule of law. And for now, Iran does not even have a reliable system of credit references.
A potential Western investors, as eager as the Iranians to establish relationships, advises patience. His book Iran's Natural Gas Industry in the Post-Revolutionary Period, which devotes a chapter to corruption and the need for legal reform was a success among the leaders of the big oil companies and the respect for foreigners were won by have a lucid view of Iran's problems instead of trying to make a quick commission as an intermediary.
"The prospect of Elham is not pure optimism, has a realistic business sense for future challenges," said Howard Rogers, who directs the program for natural gas of the Oxford Institute.
A Hassanzadeh likes to beat men at their own game.
"I needed to break this border, enter an arena where men have always imposed its rule," he wrote. "I love the power / ecstasy / emotion that this sector provides me as a woman to fight with men, that exact moment has not only crossed the borders, but thou hast made before men, that moment in which You're the only panelist woman in a high-caliber group of seven or eight men and all remain silent and impressed by your knowledge. "
Much of the work of Energy Pioneers is helping Iranian companies to prepare financial documents and feasibility studies that Western investors can trust and understand.
Its most advanced project is a huge complex of refineries natural gas which claims to be the largest in the world located in the old port town of Siraf in the Persian Gulf will be eight interrelated refineries owned by eight private companies with an investment of 350 million per company. Three of them have hired Hassanzadeh to seek foreign partners.
Although he knows of strong interest in the country, he believes it is more likely that funding comes first from Japan, Korea and China rather than Europe or the United States. However, he says that Iranians love American technology and prefer their products over those from Europe and Japan. Within a few years, he says, the US oil will be back in Iran, where they will be received with open arms.
"You will receive priority over others."

In every country there are people who love luxury and comfort. In rich nations and poor also. In Latin America, despite the many social problems that exist, people love to buy things to show off their social status. BBC recently conducted research to determine which country of that side of the world's luxury shopping and Mexico was the first recorded.
Sales of cars, clothes, jewelry, fashion accessories and other luxury goods in Mexico increased by 25.9% in 2015, according to Euromonitor International.
Mexican society suffers from many problems and some of the cities in the North American country appear among the most dangerous in the world. There is also poverty. However, its economy is the second largest in Latin America after Brazil, according to the World Bank.
For many years Mexico has hosted branches of the most prestigious brands in the world. Recently the exclusive carmaker Lamborghini and Carolina Herrera fashion house, opened in some Mexican cities.
Euromonitor estimates that in 2015 the value of the luxury market in Mexico was $ 3.6 million (€ 3.3 million). In the same period in Brazil was $ 3.1 million (€ 2.8 million).
The products that are sold are shoes, clothes, watches, jewelry, beauty products, perfumes and beverages. Also luxury cars.
The aspirational middle class
Something curious in that Mexican reality is that millionaires are not the main buyers of luxury goods, but the "aspirational middle class", those with above-average wages.
Claudio Fores Thomas, vice president of consulting Lexia, explained to the BBC that "there are those who have planes and pilots, and the upper middle classes probably have no helicopter but we access the consumer products segment."
While Cristina Morales, Signum Research analyst adds that there are people who want to demonstrate their rise up the social ladder by buying luxury goods.
"It's an aspirational buyer, someone who starts climbing middle class to upper middle class," said Morales. "The aspirational purchases allow you to get something that was unattainable for you."
All brag
Rosario Zavala, Lexia also indicates that 68% of buyers of luxury "like to show off." "Whether or not they like a product, they will buy the brand as you see."
However, not all luxury buyers moves the display. There are many who have always belonged to high society and therefore are used to purchase products from renowned brands.
"In Mexico you can have a luxury buyer of a brand that is very discreet as Prada has no visible logo, versus brands such as Louis Vuitton and Carolina Herrera, whose icons are obvious".

Lamb said Lucara has already received offers of more than $ 40 million (€ 36.7 million) for the stone, which is the size of a tennis ball. The company has also received a request from the Natural History Museum in London to display the diamond.
Lucara diamond is 1.111 carats. Generally speaking, the carats are the main way to determine the price of the diamond. "Many people will use $ 60,000 (approx. € 55,000) per carat basis," Lamb said. "On top of that, you have to see the final size of the polished diamond, like the historical context. This will also influence the price. "
Only a diamond in the past 100 years, the 3,106 carat Cullinan stone, is larger than the Lucara stone. The Cullinan was discovered in 1905 and cut into nine separate stones. Parts of the stones of the world's largest diamond somehow now belong to the "Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom".
Lucara is going to take his time regarding the sale, and incredibly, given the enormous price the company could get by stone, is considering keeping Lamb. This is made possible by the fact that Lucara has no debts, Lamb said.
Lamb also said the worker who found the huge gemstone (the size of a tennis ball) is the only one who can touch
